Hold handyman to contract?

We had a leak in our basement from the winter rains. I tried to contact several companies but they were too busy to make an offer or they didn't respond to me. In April, I found and contacted firm X via Y and Marktplaats.
A worker contacted me and came to our house to give an offerte. We agreed on the project scope and price and then the work began on 1 May. I (unfortunately) paid half of the total cost via Tikkie/Bunq with the understanding I would get the receipt later.
As of 12 May, X still has not given me a receipt or invoice and they have not come back to complete the job despite having made about 7 appointments. All the appointments were canceled at the last moment leaving us frustrated since we made the arrangements to be at home. Several times, I had asked to speak to the manager and for an invoice with their business contact, KVK, etc. I feel quite stupid since in my haste, I already paid 50% and BTW.
After I didn't hear back from the employer in a timely manner, on 3 May, I looked more carefully on their website and discovered it didn't have basic company details like an address and KVK number and I became more concerned. I googled the mobile number I had from the employer of X. Strangely, the number is affiliated with a company called B.
But since the employer eventually messaged me to reschedule the appointment, I tried not to be too suspicious and hoped they would finish the work. But 7 cancellations later, I need your help. Also, I worry that I only have 14 days as a consumer to try and get some of my money back.
I am requesting Rechtswinkel to confirm my rights as a customer and help write a letter to X in hopes of resolving the issue and getting a fair amount refunded. At this moment, I do not trust the quality of their work to finish the floor which is causing disruption in the rest of the house. I believed that X had "20 Jaar Ervaring" but their business practices and the quality of the work do not reflect this experience. Equally important, I do not want other homeowners to go through a similar experience. I plan to write a truthful review on Marktplaats and Y, but in honesty, I worry about the possibility of damage to our ground floor home.
I have screenshots of our WhatsApp communication and photographs of X work. I also summarised the situation with dates and costs for your additional information.
Het spijt me, mijn Nederlands is niet goed genoeg voor dit soort dingen. Ik wil voor de zekerheid duidelijk communiceren in Engels maar ik begrijp een beetje Nederlands als dat nodig is.
