Objecting to a fine? Get free legal advice

Questioner

Dear Sir/Madam, I received a fine for non-working brake lights (it later turned out that the brake switch was not working properly). The fine is 130 euros. Two weeks ago I had my car inspected and there was nothing wrong with it then. I was not aware of any wrongdoing. Now I personally think it is very weak to give a fine for something that I cannot see myself and of which I was completely unaware, could it not have remained a warning? I would like to file an objection, but I do not know if I have any chance here? (Or can refer to certain articles of law). I hope you can help me.

No, you don't stand a chance, because you have to check in advance whether you are driving a car that meets the requirements set out in the law and regulations. It is your responsibility. The MOT has nothing to do with this because it is only a snapshot. By the way, non-working brake lights are incredibly dangerous. I think that is why a warning was not given but a ticket was immediately issued.
