Tenants' rights: Demolition plans and lower rent

Questioner

we have a rental property and in april 2011 we received a message from the landlord that we should not do too much to our house because they are likely to be demolished but it is now almost 2 years ago and we still have not heard anything the only thing we know is that the houses that are now empty are rented to squatters for a small amount and many landlords do not agree with this because we pay the full amount and it varies from 300 to 500 euros can we do something about this regards one of the landlords

You cannot do anything about the rent, unless there are defects in the property. However, you may request the landlord to provide more clarity in the short term about the demolition plans and their implementation, the associated social plan and relocation allowance. It is best if you do this together with the other tenants.
