Is legal expenses insurance useful for an upcoming WIA application?
Questioner
I have had severe long covid complaints for 2.5 years now, which means I can work 5-7 hours a week. My employer has been given a wage sanction because I would not have any complaints and could therefore work full-time in my own position. I have now tried to build up work for 4 months and it is stagnating/deteriorating. Employer is therefore going to submit a request for reduction. Due to the wage sanction, I am not confident that I will receive a WIA benefit. When I look at legal expenses insurance, I do not understand whether it still makes sense to take it out. Can you advise me on this? I hope I am in the right place for this question.Lawyer
It is understandable that you are uncertain about this. An insurance policy does indeed provide support in many areas, including legal issues. However, the choice of legal expenses insurance depends on several factors, including your personal situation and needs. Legal expenses insurance can be useful for many legal issues, and can support objection and appeal procedures and legal proceedings. They can also help you with legal advice and negotiations. You may need legal assistance if you have to fight for your right to a WIA benefit. However, it is important to know that legal expenses insurance usually has a waiting period. This means that a certain period of time must pass after taking out the policy before you can use the coverage. In addition, legal conflicts that already existed at the time you took out the insurance are usually excluded from coverage. If you are considering taking out legal expenses insurance, it is therefore advisable to first read the policy conditions carefully. This will allow you to better understand whether the insurance conditions are appropriate for your situation. Among other things, your current situation with your employer and the UWV can play a role in the decision to take out legal expenses insurance or not. It can certainly be useful to seek professional advice from a lawyer or attorney with expertise in this area to guide you in your decision and possible further steps.
