Contractor not keeping agreements?

Questioner

I am currently having a problem with a contractor I hired to renovate my house. According to our agreement, the contractor was supposed to complete the work in about 8 weeks, without a specific deadline. Despite this, there has been no progress, even though we are still in the middle of the agreed timeline, and the contractor has been using threatening language.

Lawyer

Good evening, It is usually difficult to hold a contractor accountable if the agreed deadline has passed, but the work is not yet finished. This is because contractors often fail to meet an agreed deadline due to all kinds of circumstances. Think of additional work, hidden defects that occur during the renovation, etc. If you have reason to believe that the contractor will no longer comply with the agreement, he can be held liable for breach of contract. Additional costs (e.g. because you have to hire a new contractor), but also additional costs can be claimed from the contractor. It is important to record all agreements/correspondence in writing. Feel free to contact us without obligation to discuss your case further. Gr, Mr. Mr. S. Leito FerLei Legal 06-49175526
