Recalculation of child support?

Questioner

Both have parental authority, children 13 and 17 years old, living with me. Ex-partner pays alimony as agreed in the covenant. I would like to have it recalculated, because in practice I have to pay many more costs (for example, tuition fees as additional costs). My son will be 18 in May and I have not received any feedback on how to proceed. I have tried to contact him several times but have not received any feedback.

If there are changed circumstances in your situation, you can request a recalculation of child support. Call 040 2350422 or send an email to info@echtscheidingswinkel.nl. We can provide appropriate advice on the recalculation of child support based on your situation.

When requesting a recalculation, the financial situations of both parents are reviewed and the needs of the children and the financial capacity of both parents are considered. If it appears that the current maintenance is no longer in line with the actual costs and needs of the children, the maintenance can be adjusted. Regarding the situation of your son who will soon be 18, the child support will most likely be reduced as the costs for an 18 year old are usually lower than for a minor child. It is important to contact your lawyer or mediator to have the recalculation done in time and thus prevent you from paying too much support. If your ex-partner does not respond to your requests, you can hire a lawyer to enforce the recalculation through the court.
