Reclaim deposit and cancel front garden renovation?

Rights to get back mandatory deposit? In May we agreed on a change of our front garden with COMPANY NAME. The agreement on execution would be September. A deposit of 50% was required. There has been a delay and now execution is at the earliest in January or February 2023. I want to cancel the order and want a refund of 1000 euros (total deposit was 1400 euros). COMPANY NAME refuses this cancellation and refund of deposit. I can forward you email traffic, invoice and messenger contact if necessary. What are my rights and what can I do to get a refund since the deposit was an obligation?Lawyer
