Can ex-partner prevent the sale of a house?

My husband and I have been divorced since February 28, 2022. We own a house together where my ex still lives. My ex has been given 4 months by the court to buy me out. However, my ex has been told that he is seriously ill and has only a short time to live and therefore cannot buy me out because he can no longer get a mortgage. The house should therefore be sold by the end of June at the latest (our son wants to buy it). My ex is now trying to prevent this so that he can stay in the house longer. Is there a chance that he will succeed.
