What is the notice period for a temporary contract?

I have a temporary contract until mid-September. Now I have found a job with another employer, what is my notice period? I read via Google that you cannot cancel a temporary contract but have to wait until it ends by operation of law (in my case 1/2 September), that can't be right?

It depends on your contract. Your contract must state that you can terminate it prematurely. If it does not, you must serve out the time with your employer. If there is a possibility for interim termination, the statutory notice period is 1 month. This may be different if your contract states a different term. In short, it depends on your current contract.
