Why do I have to surrender my driver's license?
Questioner
December 23 I got on my bike with too much alcohol, I had a collision with a scooter, no injuries, limited damage. Coincidentally the police came by, had to do a breath test, pay a fine of EUR 250.00 for cycling under the influence. Now, 4 months later I have to hand in my driver's license at CBR, pay EUR 433.00 in enforcement costs and EUR 864.00 for research (psychological, urine, blood etc.). Is this all correct? I was on a bike and NOT in a car. Totally out of proportion. What should I do?Lawyer
I have not heard of this before. It is advisable to file an objection as soon as possible and also request a copy of the file. The file can be used to determine what is going on here. In certain cases, it is also possible to start an emergency procedure. You can contact me without obligation via my profile to discuss your case. See below info from the CBR. Where the last part does not apply to the bicycle: Can I ride a bike while drunk? Cycling while drunk is not allowed. The police can arrest you and you can get a fine. This also applies to the scooter, moped, Canta (or other disabled vehicle) or speed pedelec (a fast electric bicycle)? You run an additional risk with these vehicles: if you have another driving license in addition to your scooter or moped driving license, the CBR can decide that you have to take a course or examination. In the worst case, you can even lose that driving license.Neem de volgende stap
