Rental situation, right to compensation in case of leakage

I had a leak for a few weeks, from Tuesday 15 February, the week after that the leak stopped but a lot of damage in the house, water was still leaking so my stuff couldn't be there and I couldn't live there temporarily. Tuesday 8 March the painter came and after that I could move in again properly. The neighbors of the landlord solved this, because according to the landlord they are responsible. I have asked for compensation for the rent during the time that I couldn't live there, this is about 2.5 weeks, I have asked for two weeks rent back. The landlord has indicated that I have to arrange this with the neighbors, they don't want to give compensation which I understand. Now I wonder if I am entitled to these two weeks rent back, because I couldn't live there. I live in a room in a student house.

If your neighbours caused the leak, they are also the designated party to be held liable for other consequential damages, unless you and your neighbours have the same landlord.
