KLM travel allowance benefit

Questioner

I have a question about travel allowance at KLM. The employer does not want to pay a substantial amount of travel allowance because the application was submitted half a day late (due to personal circumstances; death of a first-degree family member). They refer to the Tax Return and try it there. Is the employer allowed to disadvantage an employee so severely because of such a small error? Do you know where I could go with my substantive question?

Lawyer

What an annoying situation. What is the normal procedure for submitting your travel expenses to KLM? Usually it is possible to deviate from a standard procedure in exceptional cases. It is also questionable whether payment of a large part of the travel expenses because you are half a day late. Without further information it is difficult to give a more concrete answer. It is not clear to me which period it concerns for example and what is customary at KLM. For such cases you can hire a lawyer. A lawyer is not required for this, not even if you were to go to court. Lawyers are generally cheaper than attorneys. Please feel free to contact me if you require legal assistance to see if I can help you further.

Questioner

Dear Mr. Uygul, My question was for a close family member and unfortunately I do not know the details of the standard procedure. I will have to inquire further about this. I will go to FNV Cabine for more information, because they may have received this question more often. If necessary, I will indeed consult a lawyer and possibly contact you. Thank you for your response and the offer.
