What can I do if a US company does not cancel my automatic recurring subscription?
Questioner
I joined an online platform with an automatic subscription with my credit card in my details. Now I have been trying to cancel since October and get no response. Today an email came that my subscription is automatically renewed (against my will). According to Dutch law my email cancellation should be enough, however they do not respond to this. Do I have to do more, or can they still try to claim the money. The subscription now costs 80 US dollars.Lawyer
What are the US terms regarding termination in the agreement? Whether Dutch law applies can depend on a number of circumstances. As a company, you are in principle free to choose which legal system applies. As a consumer, protective regulations are more likely to apply. Is there anything in the agreement or conditions about this? Depending on these answers, it depends on what the best next steps are. If you have terminated the agreement according to the terms in the agreement, it should simply expire. In that case, you can reverse unjustified payments. But it is always safest if you have a confirmation from the company. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require legal assistance.Neem de volgende stap
