Reversing decision to extend contract
Questioner
My employment contract expires on December 13th, now I have previously indicated by email that I agreed to the new contract, but I have not signed it yet. Now I have received an offer from another company that I do not want to refuse, can I still go back on my previous decision to extend the contract as long as it has not taken effect?Lawyer
If you have indicated by email that you agree to the extension, there is in fact already an agreement. At least, the employer could take that position. You could of course resign, but then you must observe the agreed termination provisions, otherwise liability for damages could arise. It might be wise to enter into discussions with your current employer as soon as possible. They may be prepared to agree that your contract will still end. Please note that if you were to claim this, because you are still giving up your new job, for example, you may not receive any benefits.Neem de volgende stap
