Repayment of student debt scheme for 2012
Questioner
I graduated in 2006 (WO). My repayment phase started in 2008. Due to my low income, the repayment has been set to €0 each year. My partner is not taken into account. The repayment period of 15 years will then be extended by the number of months that you do not include the partner's income. At least, that's how I've understood it so far. Now I read at DUO: 'Do you fall under the repayment rules from before 2012? Then you can ask DUO not to include your partner's income. You can report this in My DUO. If you do not include your partner's income, the term of your repayment phase will be stopped. You will remain obliged to repay as long as you do not include your partner's income. Until you have fully repaid your student debt. Your repayment phase will therefore only stop when you no longer have any student debt. Waiver of your residual debt is therefore not possible. Is that new? On various sites I read again and again a maximum of 30 years. My question is also asked more often but never really answered. Maybe someone has an idea?Lawyer
