I signed a contract and now I can no longer cancel it?
Questioner
My question concerns a situation with a company I signed a contract with, the company is based in Cyprus and I live in the Netherlands of course. The company/agency specializes in personal advice and the contract I signed with them is in accordance with European laws. I wanted to cancel the contract but they said I have to pay some kind of fine for it and that it can go up to 5000 euros if I don't pay the fine/compensation, namely 950 euros for breaking the contract with them, since I streamed/watched 20% of the content on their website. They claimed they would contact the debt collection agencies to get it from me. FYI, I requested the cancellation an hour after I signed the contract with them via Zoom and a special website for signing contracts. My question now is, can you help me to terminate/cancel/end the contract without extra costs and what are the costs for that? I am just a student and this is something that has never happened to me before. Let me know if you can help me, I really need help now. Thanks in advance!Questioner
For the full story I would like to refer you to the reddit post I made last: https://www.reddit.com/r/juridischadvies/comments/qsbms9/i_signed_a_contract_with_a_consultation_company/Lawyer
I have responded to this question before. It is always possible that no agreement has been reached because the company does not provide the correct information on its website. Quite a few things must be stated and disclosed on penalty of, let's say, nullity of the agreement. You can cancel free of charge from the moment you receive a service after you have been able to assess the service, unless the service is made for you personally. If that is not the case, you have already studied 20% of it. which is a lot for an hour, but possible. Can they prove that? I would like to help you with this (consumer law) problem, but then you will have to email me directly at info@rechtinjestad.nlQuestioner
That's what I thought, the first time I posted a question, I did so as a lawyer. Of course, that wasn't the intention and I accidentally registered as a lawyer. My account had to be deleted first and that's why there are several questions of this kind. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the others and so I posted this one again. My apologies for the inconvenience. I'll send you an email right away.Neem de volgende stap
