Who pays the costs of replacing a dividing wall?
Questioner
Hello, we have the following question. We live in a terraced house. Our houses are staggered. So we share the dividing wall to a certain extent, a large part of the wall protrudes above our roof. At first glance, it is the wall of the neighbours. So we are looking at the side of the house of the neighbours. The neighbours say that this is still “our” wall, according to the land registry it should be our wall. This wall is finished with wooden parts. Of course, these will need to be replaced at some point. But who should pay for this now? We think it is clearly the wall of the neighbours. How do I find out what is legally correct? Thank you very much for your answer!Lawyer
In the case of staggered houses this must be arranged in a deed and easements and joint matters. But usually joint is the part of the dividing wall that is used jointly and up to there.Neem de volgende stap
