Good morning, I started 15 years ago as an administrative employee at an insurance office with an hourly wage of 12.70 euros. I run the office 32 hours a week together with the owner who works there 1 day I have asked several times if my employment contract can be changed to advisor and a corresponding salary that increases with inflation. But my employer does not want that. So I have not had a pay rise for 15 years, have become single and am having difficulty making ends meet. I would like to know if my employer is allowed to do this or if I have a good chance if I take legal steps for better employment conditions. I look forward to your response.

The first question is whether there is a collective labor agreement? If so, the employer must follow it. If not, the following applies. As long as you earn the minimum wage or more, the employer does not have to pay more wages. A higher position normally comes with a higher wage. It is also customary to index the wages every year. If the employer does not want to change anything in consultation, you have 2 choices: 1, accept the low wage; 2. Find another job with a better employer. An employer who does appreciate you. Unfortunately there are no more options.
