What training can my employer require me to take?
Questioner
Dear Madam/Sir, I have been working for the same company for almost 10 years and for the past two years a number of courses have been made mandatory for all employees. This concerns the BHV training, so instead of being able to follow it voluntarily, all 68 employees are required to follow it. This year, the Effective Communication training was added, a training in which people's communication style is determined. I have problems with the BHV obligation because I find it very unhygienic to have to touch other people to perform CPR, etc. Furthermore, I believe there is no obligation for a company that all employees are BHV trained. The other training also does not relate to my position and that of the other employees, but is a result of the fact that our director finds this interesting. My question is: can I refuse these trainings? I look forward to receiving your response. Thank you in advance. Yours sincerelyLawyer
I often hear that people want to learn but are not given the opportunity by their employer. Communicating effectively is broader than just linking this course to a specific function and requirements. By following it, an employer can have other objectives in mind. Think of, among other things; it could contribute to improving mutual contacts with others inside and outside the company. Even at home/private there can be benefits, certainly if the employer sees reason to take it to work, for example, in the case of absenteeism due to illness/tensions. Many collective labor agreements also include training and education. If the atmosphere warrants it, he can oblige you to do so.Neem de volgende stap
