18 year old son smokes weed and lies in bed all day: what can I legally do?
Questioner
Son of 18 years. Constantly promises improvement but unfortunately. That is the reason I keep hoping. Smokes weed, does not go to school, no normal rhythm, works minimally, autism and add and otherwise lies in bed all day. The only thing he gets out of his legs for is going to the city and buying weed and smoking there. Costs a lot of money and he does not have that. I still lend him money every time but I can't keep this up. I know that paying it back will not work but I do not want to spend everything on him. I want to do something drastic because I am going to die from it but I am afraid that he will do something to himself... What am I legally allowed to do? Kick him out of the house? Daughter lives with her father because of this situation and only see her once a week at my parents. She is 20 years old but cannot stand by and watch how things are going with my son.Lawyer
This is a situation where you can consider approaching a mediator. He can get the conversation between the two of you on track. And if you then have a substantive conversation with him, you can perhaps make him promise that he will change his lifestyle. Difficult situation. But he is still your child, who you do not just throw out on the street. I cannot advise you to take a drastic approach, but there is a limit to everything. Perhaps you can advise him to contact a psychologist or a coach?Neem de volgende stap
