Housing association vs citizen, am I in the right and what can I do?
Questioner
I have been living in a private sector home in Amsterdam for a few months now. The house is 50 years old and has had a 'makeover' before it could be rented out. I received the house with uneven ground (which caused my laminate flooring to become crooked after a few weeks) I didn't know I was supposed to get the house with a ground floor, this is my first house. Housing association indicates that they will raze the ground but will not reimburse the costs of laying/removing laminate flooring. I got the house with a problem with the ceiling of 1 room that I had to solve at my own expense. (the ceiling was not made ready for delivery for the housing association, but that was how it was told to me) I did not know this and spent a lot of money to get a decent ceiling. Afterwards, the housing association admitted that the contractors did not work properly, but I did not get any compensation for this either. During the viewing and signing of the contract, the real estate agent and I were not told about any major maintenance that the houses would undergo. If I had known this in advance, I would not have taken the house. Apartment complex with 80 houses. Not really what I am looking forward to. As a gesture of goodwill, they offered me 1 month's rent back, but they didn't take any other matters seriously. I was told in advance by the housing association that if I submitted receipts for the costs incurred, I would be reimbursed. I have cooperated with this and now I am told that I will not be reimbursed. Housing association admits to mistakes but does not admit to reimbursement. What am I entitled to and what am I not entitled to? This is a hopeless situation, I live in a house with broken laminate and have incurred an incredible amount of costs. PS. I have all the receipts and proof, also proof of emails that I have been chasing the housing association for more than 1 month to limit the damage. If they had responded sooner, I might not have had to pay out of pocket. I would like to make a case out of this, is that wise? Thanks in advance for responding. :-) Gr,Lawyer
You have objectively enriched your landlord sustainably and he must legally compensate you with a price reduction. Could you please contact me by email?Neem de volgende stap
