The notice period stated in the rental contract applies or – if there is no notice period in the contract – a notice period of at least one month. If it states 3 months, then that is unfortunately the notice period. You could contact the landlord to ask if he agrees to an earlier departure. If you do this in time and he quickly finds another tenant, then that should not be a problem.
