Where can I get help with regard to termination of an employment contract determined by the employer?

Son is on sick leave and has a difference of opinion with his employer about the content of his duties. They are now proposing to terminate his employment contract. He and I are faced with the question of whether or not to accept this with a view to a possible unemployment application afterwards. Will this be refused because he himself agreed to the termination?
