What can I do about cannabis nuisance?

My home is on the 1st floor (porch apartment). Since January, there are new downstairs neighbors and they need joints to relax. I wish them that, but the weed smell comes through the ventilation in the bathroom, toilet and sometimes even in the hall and kitchen. The various conversations with the neighbors do not help, the housing association says that we have to sort it out among ourselves, the contractor says that he cannot change anything about the ventilation. What else can I do? Now, with warm, windless days, it gets even worse.

If your neighbours smoke every now and then, you should tolerate the odour nuisance, but it is different if they smoke every day and often in succession. In that case, you could indeed hold your landlord accountable because the odour nuisance leads to a defect in the rented property. You can then hold your landlord accountable to do something about the nuisance, and exercise other rights to encourage this, such as suspension of rent and/or price reduction... a complaint to the rent committee. This is only possible if you both have the same landlord. If that is not the case, you should consider unlawful neighbour nuisance.
