What am I entitled to as a single parent regarding social assistance?

My ex-husband can pay me a portion of spousal support because of his ability to pay. The children have assets above 30,000. Can I receive assistance without using my children's assets?

Assistance will not be granted, because the municipality takes into account the assets of the children. This is only different if the children are older than 18 or if it concerns children for whom you do not receive child benefit.

Can I somehow put that asset aside so that it does not count towards social assistance?

That is difficult, because you need to provide the municipality with a correct statement of your assets. Incidentally, your assets are not included in Box 3 if they were used to purchase the owner-occupied home in which you have your main residence (Box 1).
