Who decides whether or not to take a corona test?

Good afternoon, I am a co-parent and our son is in high school. My ex does not want to give permission for a corona test. My son has no problem with the test, he is 12 years old. To what extent does it cause problems if he takes the test without his mother's permission, but does have my permission?
