We are going on a camper trip. Where to register?

Questioner

I sold my house on August 2 (delivery) after that we want to travel around with a camper. We are looking for a legal way to register with a municipality, via a registration address with friends, but so far municipalities object. What can we do? And how to act?

That legal way does not exist. You have to register where you actually live. If you do not leave the Netherlands for more than 8 months, you can designate a postal address. Because then, according to the law, you will not leave the Netherlands for emigration. So I think you better tell that to a municipality.

In response to your answer: you are not allowed to register at a residential address or postal address in the Netherlands if you do not live or reside there (living as the law defines it). A postal address is only valid temporarily. You can better say that you do not intend to leave the Netherlands to live elsewhere because then you are deemed to have emigrated on day 1 of your trip (with all the consequences such as tax and you are no longer insured for health care, your license plate is then also not valid). or that you do not leave the Netherlands for more than 8 months for a trip. Then you can register with friends or family as your residential address or arrange a postal address.
