What can I do to get an honest answer to my application rejection?
Questioner
I was approached by a healthcare organization via Indeed at the end of February for a position as Policy Officer Quality. I shared my resume and was invited for a first interview with the current policy officer quality and the general manager. Before I accepted the invitation, I already indicated what my salary preference is. If that was not possible, we did not have to invest in it from either side. This was not a problem. During that conversation (March 4), the general manager was unable to attend. It was a nice conversation and I was enthusiastic about the position. Detail: one of the topics of conversation was that good communication is so important. A few days after the first interview, I was invited for a second interview (March 11) with the general manager. This was also a good conversation and communication was a topic there too. At the end of the conversation, the general manager said: 'There are more candidates, but I think you are the best, so I actually want to continue with you. I don't have to discuss it, because I am the boss.' There were still a few items we would both think about and I would let the quality policy officer know the following Monday (March 15) if I wanted the position. After that the general manager would see if we could come to a suitable salary. The items were: - not allowed to work from home - fixed working hours on weekdays On Monday 15 March I informed the quality policy officer that I agreed with the above items, but that I would like the freedom to take my day off (it was a 32-hour position) flexibly. She indicated that she did not expect that to be a problem. I would be called back. Tuesday March 16th I got a call from a staff member of HR telling me I wasn't hired. The reason she gave me was: 'there were several candidates and the other one was better' I replied that I found that strange, because the general manager had indicated to me that I was the best and that I would still think about not working from home and fixed working hours. Then the HR employee indicated: 'oh yes, that was it. Not working from home would never suit you'. I indicated that I had just indicated that I agreed with that. The HR employee did not know what to do with it and the conversation was ended. Because it gave me a feeling of dissatisfaction, I called on March 18. I asked if the policy officer quality or the general manager were present, because I wanted to know what the real reason for the rejection was. I was told that they were both not present at that time and a callback request was created. March 25th I had not been called back and I called again. April 1st I indicated by email that I had not been called back and called again on April 8th. Every time I get the answer that they are not available and I am told that a call back request will be made. Detail: the vacancy for quality policy officer is still open. What can I do to get an honest answer?Lawyer
From your question I infer that you thought you were hired, based on the commitments and agreements that had already been made. Under certain circumstances an employment contract can be concluded. This requires that agreement has been reached on aspects that are essential to you and the employer. You can indicate in your response that an agreement had already been reached. You had already accepted the offer for an employment contract. I also recommend that you consult a lawyer or attorney. You can contact me for a first, no-obligation consultation. I have successfully assisted an employee in such a case.Questioner
We had more or less agreed. I would still think about whether I could agree to not working from home and fairly fixed working hours. I would let them know after the weekend. After that, the general manager would check my salary request. I indicated that I agreed with that The reason given that it did not go ahead in contradiction to the agreements. The worst thing I find is that they do not want to give me an honest answer. I would like to know why I was not hired in the end. You will understand that I no longer want to work for that organization, but I believe that I am entitled to an honest answer.Neem de volgende stap
