What does the law say about removing ivy?
Questioner
We have an open wooden fence with our rear neighbours that was already there when we moved in. Ivy that was planted on our side and that probably also grows on their side of the fence is growing against the fence. We now want to completely remove the ivy from our garden. Do we have to take the (wish of) the neighbours into account? Is there anything in the law about this? On the internet I mainly see things about when you are bothered by the vegetation in your neighbour's garden. I'd like to hear from you.Lawyer
Yes, because if the fence is shared, so is the ivy. Removal can lead to the plant's decline or death. I advise you to discuss this thoroughly with your neighbours who may appreciate the ivy.Take the next step
