Legal provisions for down payments for consumers
Questioner
Ir/Madam, My CV needs to be replaced. The quote states a minimum down payment of 60% above 1000 euros. This seems quite a lot to me. What are the legal provisions? Thanks in advance for your quick responseLawyer
In principle, a consumer can be obliged to make a down payment of up to half of the purchase price. This can be read in the Civil Code, article 7:26. Section 2 of this article states: 'Payment must be made at the time and place of delivery. In the case of a consumer purchase, the buyer may be required to pay in advance up to half of the purchase price.' The down payment is therefore a maximum of half of the purchase price. I hope I have informed you sufficiently. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Neem de volgende stap
