Why do I contribute to the new shed for neighbors?

Questioner

We have agreed with the neighbours to replace our shared fence. Now our neighbours want to replace their shed, which is on the property line in line with the fence. Is it fair that we pay for this, because it is a kind of property boundary? It is about 6 metres.

Lawyer

No, not at all. The law stipulates that communal dividing walls (fences) up to half the thickness may be anchored for works that belong to the adjacent property. The building is not traced but is a clearly separated object. Compare planters that are hung on the fence, you don't have to replace those for your neighbors!
