What rights do I have in case of late invoicing?

On 2-9-2020, plumbing work was carried out at my place by a company. After the work, I did not receive an invoice, I followed up on this 2 to 3 times. I always received the same answer, everything will be fine. N 6 months later I received the invoice. This without any preparation or announcement. Now I know that an invoice must be sent within the first 15 days of the following month for the work. People have every right to compensation, but the way in which it is done is really bad. If the assignment has been carried out satisfactorily, you are obliged to pay the agreed fee. This is also the case if the invoice is not received until after six months. In general, the limitation period is five years.
