Liability and co-parenting
Questioner
My ex-partner and I divorced 4 years ago and for the past two years we have had a joint account into which we deposit money pro rata to pay for the costs of the children (we have 50/50 co-parenting). Now two of the children (one officially lives with him, the other with me) have broken something in someone else's house. We both found out that we don't have liability insurance. Luckily the third party had home contents insurance and only asked us to pay the deductible of 50 euros. I paid this from the joint account. Now my ex is demanding that I get the money back because it is my expense because I was responsible for them at the time of the breakage. I think I can declare it because it is an expense for the children. Who is right here?Lawyer
This depends on the agreements made in the parenting plan/agreement regarding additional unforeseen costs of the children. Perhaps your own third-party liability insurance can cover any damage?!Neem de volgende stap
