What can I do if my employer does not pay my wages?
Questioner
Good afternoon, I work in a hair salon. I have a contract there for a number of hours per week. The salon is currently closed due to the corona measures. The owner of the salon has to continue paying the rent and therefore has a financial deficit to pay my salary. She receives 80% reimbursement from government support. During that period we agreed that she would also pay me 80% of the salary and that the remaining 20% would be paid at a later date. This will be when customers can come again and there is income. This week, however, she indicates that she cannot pay anything at all. That means that I am having problems paying the bills. That can't be right?! I am also concerned that the hair salon will not survive this crisis and that bankruptcy may follow. Then I can probably kiss my money that I am owed goodbye. Do you have any advice for me on how to act in this. Thank you in advance! ECLawyer
It is unfortunate for this employer, but you are entitled to your salary. In your case, this is 80% for the time being, because you have temporarily waived the rest, but you must be paid that 80%. If your employer does not do this, you will have to take action, because if you wait too long, the UWV will no longer take over all obligations in the event of a later bankruptcy. If desired, I can help you with this. If you want, you can contact me directly using the button provided for this purpose.Neem de volgende stap
