What is the limitation period for a car repair?

Good evening, In 2018 I had my previous car repaired. Invoice date is 30-03-2018. Now I had made a verbal payment arrangement with this garage and paid a total of around €900 in 2018. It has now emerged that there is still an outstanding amount of approximately €290. This was lost on both of us. I was called by the garage on 30-12-2020 with the request to pay that last amount, so almost 3 years later. Now I wonder what the limitation period is for a repair to the car where also new parts so purchase of products incl. repair. Is it 2 or 5 years? Thank you in advance for your explanation. In principle, a limitation period of 2 years applies to consumer purchases. This is if it concerns a purchase for payment of a delivery of a product or service provided. Outside of this, a limitation period of 5 years applies. In your case, it concerns a payment arrangement that has not been fully complied with, so that the seller can claim payment within 5 years.
