Changes to work schedule: rights and options
Questioner
Can my boss say after 6 or 7 years that I have to work 5x4 hours instead of 4x5? I am 56 years old and therefore do not have a day off during the week?Lawyer
Your work schedule may be set out in an employment contract. If so, the employer cannot simply make changes to it. Serious business circumstances apply. If the work schedule is not in the employment contract, you can argue on the basis of 'persistent habit' that your interests are being affected by this proposal. You have built your life around the current schedule. If your employer has a works council, it will have to agree to a change in the work schedule. I recommend that you contact an employment lawyer for advice.Take the next step
