Questioner

I had a collision. I think it was my fault. During a traffic jam I wanted to move from the left lane to the right lane. Only there was a motorcyclist in between who overtook between the right and left lane (and therefore between me and the car next to me). He hit my side and then hit the car in front. I immediately got out to help.. But now comes the thing.. The police have noted down the details of the car the motorcyclist crashed into. And also the details of one of the witnesses. I was there but the police didn't ask me anything. I was a bit in shock myself and only realised when everyone left that no one had asked for my details... What should I do now? Not so much for my own (relatively minor) damage, but I assume that they also need my data to handle this? Now it seems to be only between the motorcyclist and the car in front. Of course I should have said something, but again I was very moved. What now?

If you want to be compensated for your damage because you believe that others are to blame for the accident, I advise you to report your damage to the police. Do this as soon as possible and indicate that you were involved in the accident, etc. Then report the damage to your insurer.
