Liability in a general partnership: What to do?

Questioner

I have signed an agreement as a member of a general partnership my co-partner did not sign my wife, who is not part of the partnership, did not co-sign either Can I still be held liable for the agreement?

Lawyer

That is possible. As a partner, you are personally liable for any debts of the partnership. This means that creditors can hold you liable for the entire debt. Initially, this will often be the separate assets and if this proves insufficient to cover the debt, the private assets will also be used. If you are married in community of property, your partner's private assets also fall under this.
