Received a wheel clamp? Discover your rights!

I just got a wheel clamp because I accidentally parked my car in the parking garage of my own apartment building, not in my own parking spot, but 3 spots further away. The wheel clamp was installed by a private company and I know that a sign warns of this. However, I have been living here for 9 years and pay properly for a parking space. I have also never made such a mistake before (because that is what it is). It therefore feels very sour that I get such a yellow monster within 24 hours and can pay 160 euros for it. Can I still do something with this?
