What to do in case of high damage claim? Extensive tips!

The other party's claim for damages is far too high considering the photos taken after the collision. Fall from 0 claim-free years back to -5 and have to pay €3400. If we don't do that, we have to pay €288.71 in premiums every month for 5 years. Insurance has already paid damages to the other party. Unfortunately, no legal expenses insurance. Do we have the right to inspect the other party's damage report and can we still 'challenge' it?
