What to do when changing company name? | Legal Aid
Questioner
We have a website agreement with a company that sends us an email on September 28th that the company name will change as of October 1st. If you object to this, you can report this to us within 2 weeks. Our question is, what kind of objection can we file? There has been a lot of turmoil at this company lately, high staff turnover, new staff with little knowledge, requests are answered with an automatically generated email, after which nothing more is heard, etc. We believe that it is an emergency measure for the company to keep the company afloat for a while by changing its name. Is there a possibility for us to terminate this agreement based on a name change?Lawyer
Simply changing the name of a company cannot be a reason to terminate the agreement. After all, you will continue to do business with the same party. If the name change is actually a trick to bind you to another party, you do not have to agree to it. You can check with the Chamber of Commerce whether it concerns the same or another party.Take the next step
