Hello, I took over a private home from my cousin. The landlord went on vacation during the transfer, but said you can move into the home, the rental contract will come after my vacation. After more than a month and a half he comes with a provisional rental contract that does not include verbal agreements. The contract was therefore not signed. I had already been there for more than a week when I wanted to register with the municipality. Imagine my surprise!! The home is not known to the municipality!!! So this landlord sublets the house. With 2 other companies and a family (so now four of us) we only have 1 waste bin. I said that I do not agree with this and therefore I will also take the stuff out again and leave. Now the landlord wants me to pay 1 month's rent. Well, I do not participate in illegal practices and therefore do not want to pay anything. Am I allowed to do this????Lawyer
In principle, a (verbal) agreement has been reached. However, there are illegal practices that undermine the agreement and you are not bound by them. You can first demand that the landlord rent legally. I think that the landlord will draw the short straw if he starts a procedure. If you cannot reach an agreement, I would be happy to look at your case.Questioner
