Adjustment of primary school working days: your rights

Questioner

I work at a primary school. For the next school year, the director wants to adjust my working days while I have indicated that I am unable to work on that day. Is this allowed? I suggest alternatives but he doesn't want to change.

Lawyer

Your employer may only ignore your wishes if there is a 'weighty business interest'. Whether that is present I cannot of course judge from a distance, but if you see alternatives, then it is difficult to imagine that there is indeed a weighty business interest that requires you to work on a day that you do not want or cannot work. If desired, I may be able to guide the discussion with your director.
