Liability for scooter damage: who pays?

Questioner

My daughter gave her friend permission to drive her scooter to the city. Now this friend has let another friend (an unknown person to us) drive, from the looks of it also with a driver's license, and this other friend falls with the scooter. A lot of damage to the scooter hoods but the ladies only want to pay a third party, because their position is: my daughter gave permission! Who should pay for the damage? The parents do not want to talk to me, their word was: end of discussion. What can I do?

Lawyer

The person who caused the damage (unknown girlfriend) is in principle liable for the damage. The girlfriend who rode along can also be held liable for half of it, because she was not allowed to give permission and therefore accepts the chance of damage. If the ladies are minors, you can put the parents in default in writing to compensate for the damage. Your daughter must prove a few things. If you are still unable to reach an agreement, I would be happy to look at your case.
