Employee rights: Wages during induction period

Questioner

My new boss expects me to do my training period in my own time after 4 days of working completely independently. However, my contract has already been signed. Is this allowed?

Lawyer

The employer must pay wages from the effective date of the contract. During the induction period (trial period?) the employer must also pay wages if they occur before the start date of the contract. A possible introduction to the company (without you performing any work) can be done without payment of wages. This can never be more than 1 to 2 days.
