Liability after damage by grid operators

Questioner

After purchasing our home, we moved the meter cupboard in our house. For this, we also had the electricity and the fibre optic connection moved by the managers. This cost a pretty penny. These pipes were shot from the pavement to the house, there was no mechanical digging. However, we have had a lot of unblocking cabinets for a year now. After some digging in the garden, it turns out that a well in the garden has been pierced with the electricity and fiber optic cable. A brick has broken off and blocked the drain. Incidentally, part of the fiber optic cable lies through that well without a sheath. This blockage has cost us a lot of extra money (unblocking service etc.). Am I within my rights to hold the relevant network operators (contractors) liable for the damage to the sewer?

Lawyer

In principle, you can hold them liable, but this depends on how long ago the work was carried out. If damage is allowed due to a shortcoming that can be attributed to the grid operators, then there is a right to compensation. You must be able to demonstrate this.
