What to do in case of study refund? Get free advice

Questioner

Dear Reader, I am currently employed at a company where I have resigned to work somewhere else. I completed a study 1.5 years ago and at the beginning of that study I signed an A4 sheet stating that I have to pay back part of the costs within 3 years after completing the study. Now it is a simple A4 sheet with factual untruths regarding the function at the start of the training (never a management function) received at the start of the training. Also, the costs described are lower than the actual costs incurred during the training. So I wonder, what are my rights and do I have to pay back?

Dear, you have signed a declaration stating that you will repay part of the study within 3 years after completing your studies. That is an agreement. The employer can hold you to it. What I can advise you is to discuss this with your new employer. Is this training important for your new employer. Perhaps the costs can be covered by your new employer. In short: you have signed that you will repay part. It is not relevant whether your function was right.

In principle, there is a sliding scale and reasonable costs must be reimbursed. However, to be able to advise you better, you can email me the A4 to see what steps can be taken. To do so, click on the button next to this answer for direct contact.
