Buying a house with squatters? Discover your options
Questioner
I want to buy a house that has been squatted for years (>7). The owner has never tried to get his property back and has completely disillusioned instructed a confidant to sell it. (he can no longer emotionally handle any reference to the object) The house is in a deplorable condition and will probably have to be demolished. My question is what the procedure is and the chances (and costs!!) of eventually getting the squatters (1+2) out if I were to acquire the house WITH squatters and all. (I don't think the seller wants to go through the pain of going through the eviction process himself). Thank you for any insight and advice.Lawyer
If you have an urgent interest in getting the squatters out of the house, you can claim this in summary proceedings as soon as you are the owner. There must be concrete plans for the renovation and future use of the house, other than demolition and reconstruction. The squatters will invoke their right to domicile, which gives them far-reaching rights to continue to live in the house. A weighing of interests will therefore take place.Neem de volgende stap
