I resigned a few weeks ago because I didn't like the work atmosphere and because they kept stringing me along. Now I have been considered through an employment agency to start working for a competitor of this company. So I approached this company outside of the employment agency to apply. But now my ex-employer is blackmailing my new employer with the promise that if they hire me, their collaboration will stop. They have done this with false facts that they claim would have taken place in one of our conversations. As a result, I run the risk of losing my future job and becoming unemployed. Is my ex-employer allowed to do this? And what would be the best thing for me to do in this situation?
