Skylight Construction Error? Get Legal Advice!

In September 2011 we had a 2x3 skylight manufactured and installed in our extension by the company x Last March, water came pouring into our living room through the skylight. On closer inspection it turned out that the skylight was rotten due to a construction error Even the beams on the inside are starting to crack now. If we lift the aluminum on the outside of the skylight, there will be space between the sealant and the glass. We reported this to the contractor immediately, but it has now been half a year and we had hoped to resolve it together. What we are also afraid of is that the beam layer of the roof construction has also been affected. At the time we paid 4100 euros for manufacturing and installation. The contractor's proposal now is that we pay 1,500 euros for the glass and the wooden support beam, and that we help install the skylight. In our opinion there is a construction error on his part, not only is this our view, but the insurance company's structural damage insurance expert also shares this opinion. He assessed visible consequential damage for us and found a construction error, which is why even the visible consequential damage will not be paid to us. (water damage to the ceiling and wooden floor) So in our eyes we do not have to pay for the costs. But this is at the expense of the contractor. I am curious what you, as a legal aid office, have to say about this.Lawyer
Assuming the insurance expert's report is correct, it seems to me that you should now quickly proceed to a notice of default with a recovery period. If the repair is not done in time, you can proceed to the repair yourself at the contractor's expense. However, you should still refer to the construction contract. These often contain annoying liability limitations. Get legal assistance.Neem de volgende stap
